LONG BEACH – Some candidates talk a good game but Jason Aula, Business Finance Major and candidate for ASI Treasurer, is taking ACTION! If elected, he would receive a fellowship and scholarship of about $1,400 a month while in office and he has announced his plans to donate over 30% of his awards back to ASI.
Jason felt the need to set his own precedent by donating his salary and showing what leadership is all about. This is a bold commitment and shows his willingness to sacrifice personal gain for the good of CSULB students.
Due to the financial cuts that are anticipated to impact Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) this summer (potential loss of $200,000), bold action needs to be taken. This is one step of many that will be needed to keep ASI viable over the summer and into the 2009 – 2010 Academic Year.
Statement from the Candidate:
“If elected ASI Treasurer, it would be a great honor for me to donate 1/3rd of my salary back to the Associated Students, Incorporated (ASI). I am not financially well off and I work very hard to pay my way through school, however, I am willing to sacrifice to give back to CSULB. It is time we start working on the real issues at hand like the proper management of ASI funds through appropriate legislation and increasing revenue by the ASI. I would like to challenge those who are vying for any executive position in the ASI to donate at least 1/3rd of their income from the ASI Fellowship back to the ASI. Talk is cheap, and we need elected officials to put their money where their mouths are.”
